A Light Sky Blue For Daytime Skies And Water
Staedtler 371-30 is pale blue, colour 30, a light and clear sky blue; the box listing brings ten pens for skies, reflections and cool, fresh colour on cards and pages.
A clear light blue is the sky colour most people expect: a summer day above a landscape, a swimming pool, reflections on a window, a baby boy's birthday card, a winter scene with blue shadows on snow. Sweep it across the top of a page and blend down toward white while wet for a quick gradient sky, then add clouds with the paper left bare.
Pale blue features in three of Staedtler's boxed sets: Basic Colours (371 C12-1), Cool Colours (C12-6) and Blues and Violets (C6-2). Beside it, ice blue 310 is the softer, whiter option and pacific blue 39 the deep sea tone.
Every 371 carries Multi Ink, a translucent India ink with pigments. Staedtler list it as fast drying and permanent, with no bleed or show-through, and they say later layers or other pens can go over it once dry without smearing.
