A weighted plush dog for comfort and calm
Theo the Therapy Dog from MTA Essentials, supplier code RE49595, is a cuddly weighted lap companion designed to provide calm, comfort and sensory support for children aged 3+ years.
MTA Essentials lists Theo's weight as 1.13 kg, evenly distributed through his body, with bead-filled paws and a belly pack for deep pressure. A hook-and-loop belly pouch holds a removable ceramic bead pack that can be cooled in the fridge or gently warmed as per the care instructions, and it releases a lavender scent when warmed. Theo is machine washable as per his care label.
Theo can rest on a lap or shoulders during reading, seated tasks or transitions, or sit in a calm-down area for self-directed use. Soft fur, paw pads, ears, eyes and nose invite tactile exploration, and the pouch, cooled or warmed by an adult as per the care instructions, adds another sensory option.
Keep Theo in a calm corner or reading area where children can pick him up when they need comfort. Find more calming supports in sensory toys and early learning sensory, or browse teacher resources and educational supplies for the classroom.
