Twenty Four Norix Colours, Including White, Grey And Earth Tones
Staedtler 186 C24 is the larger Norix box: 24 coloured pencils in assorted colours, in Staedtler's black barrel range for ages 10 and up.
Double the colours makes a real difference to shading. Next to the twelve colour Norix set, this box adds white, light yellow, light orange, scarlet red, pink, magenta, violet, cyan, sea green, light green, burnt sienna and grey. That gives two or three steps in most colour families, so a student can build light to dark instead of pressing harder.
In Staedtler's words the Norix look is X-treme: a black barrel, dotted colour near the tip and an unusual Smart Design profile meant for relaxed drawing. They also promise x-tra bright colours, leads that hold up to drops and a barrel that does not slip, and they give Germany as the place of manufacture.
It suits art electives, visual diaries and older kids who have outgrown junior colours.
