Twist-Up Wax Colour In A Plastic Barrel
The Staedtler Noris 221 wax twister puts a stick of colour-intensive wax inside a clear plastic barrel, so children turn the end to bring more crayon up instead of peeling paper. This listing is a pack of 12 in assorted colours.
Because the wax sits inside a barrel, fingers stay off the colour and the stick is supported along its length. Staedtler describe the 221 as especially break-resistant, which matters with young artists who press hard. The wax is about 6 mm across with a rounded end, a size that handles outlines as well as filling in.
The twelve shades named by Staedtler for this set are yellow, orange, red, pink, violet, indigo blue, pale blue, willow green, green, peach, brown and black. Peach and brown cover faces and hair, the two blues give sky and sea, and willow green sits alongside the stronger green for grass and leaves.
Each twister is printed STAEDTLER Noris 221 on the barrel and, according to Staedtler, conforms to EN 71. Twist back down and cap after use so the tip is not crushed in a pencil case.
