Dolphin Grey: A Cool Neutral For Stone Looks And Animals
FIMO soft 8020-80 dolphin grey is a cool, mid-light grey, supplied as Staedtler's 57 g standard block of oven-bake modelling clay.
Grey does a lot of quiet work in clay. It makes elephants, mice, koalas, seals and of course dolphins; it gives pots, coasters and trinket dishes a concrete or stone look; and it calms a busy bead design. It also sits under bright accents so they stand out, which is why makers often keep a block on hand next to white and black.
On Staedtler's colour board dolphin grey shares a row with white, and the block splits into 8 portions. Fold a portion into white for a pale silver grey, or into black for charcoal. Per Staedtler the clay can be combined with FIMO professional, and it comes out of the pack smooth and workable.
Harden finished pieces in the oven at 110°C for 30 minutes, per Staedtler. Leftover portions can go back in the resealable pack.
