Black Clay That Bakes To A Leather Look
FIMO leather-effect black, article 8010-909, is a 57 g oven-bake clay that Staedtler describe as taking on a surface and feel similar to leather once it has been hardened.
Black is the classic leather colour, which makes it the natural pick for bag tags, keyrings, watch-style straps, cord ends and sharp geometric pendants. Staedtler's own keyring photo shows a folded black bird shape, stitched and hung from a split ring.
Roll it thin and, after baking, the pieces can be bent, braided and sewn, according to Staedtler. That opens up techniques normal polymer clay does not allow, such as punching stitch holes and joining panels with thread.
The block divides into 8 portions and works with FIMO soft, effect and professional, so black can be marbled into other colours. The wrapper gives the oven setting: 130°C, 30 minutes.
