Mid Grey Lettering For Monochrome Layouts
Staedtler 375-84 is warm grey medium, a mid-tone neutral in the pigment calligraphy pen range that is dark enough to read and light enough to stay understated.
Build a whole monochrome scheme around it. Headlines in 99 intense black or 90 light black, secondary lines in warm grey medium, and shadows or ornaments in warm grey light 840 give a restrained, modern look on white card, invitations, menus and signage. On kraft or cream stock the warm undertone blends in rather than looking cold.
Tip and ink in brief: a fixed chisel of approx. 2.0 mm for thick and thin strokes; Multi Ink that Staedtler describe as water-based, pigmented, fast drying, permanent and waterproof; lightfastness classified for each colour; and no show-through on paper.
The same Staedtler colour number appears on the 371 brush pen and 372 soft brush pen, handy when a design mixes calligraphy with brush work.
