Indigo Blue For Night Skies, Deep Water And Strong Headings
Staedtler 371-36 is a deep indigo pigment brush pen, which Staedtler list as colour 36 indigo blue, supplied here in a pack of 10.
Dark blues do the heavy lifting in a picture. Indigo gives a night sky its weight, puts the depth into ocean and lake scenes, draws denim and school uniforms, and can stand in for black when line work should feel softer. Lettered in indigo, a heading reads with nearly the contrast of black but carries more colour.
Staedtler's Multi Ink is water-based, pigmented and translucent, so building indigo over 3 blue or 310 ice blue produces smooth transitions from light to dark. Once dry, Staedtler say the ink is permanent, waterproof and smudge-free when painted over, and it does not bleed through to the back of the page, which suits journals used on both sides.
