Red Omnichrom Pencils For Cut Lines And Alerts
Staedtler Lumocolor omnichrom 108-2 comes as a box of 12 red, water-soluble dry marker pencils with a hexagonal wooden case.
Red is the colour for things that need attention: cut lines, defects, rejected parts, corrections on proofs and reminders on whiteboards or glass. Staedtler use the red 108-2 in their own close-up, line width and in-use photographs, so the images here show this exact colour.
The omnichrom lead gives an opaque line on almost all surfaces, even dark or transparent ones, with the examples Staedtler give running from stone and wood to glass, metal, plastic, leather and paper. It is water-soluble, so smooth surfaces such as plastic, metal, lacquer and leather can be wiped clean, and many fabrics wash out.
The line is about 1 mm wide from a sharpened point. Staedtler recommend the Mars 510 25 or the 512 002 tub sharpener, rate the colour highly lightfast and state the pencils are made in Germany.
