Deep, Low-Shine 7B For Contrast Drawing
Staedtler Mars Lumograph black 100B-7B is a box of 12 dark drawing pencils with a high carbon lead, made for matte black tones that do not glare under light.
Ordinary graphite gets shiny as you build it up. Staedtler add more carbon to the Lumograph black lead, which they say gives minimal light reflection, so dark passages stay dark when viewed at an angle or photographed. In 7B, the second softest of the six black grades, that suits chess-board style contrasts, night scenes and strong cast shadows.
Staedtler describe a soft, blendable laydown for flowing transitions, high break resistance in sharpening and use, and even, repeatable strokes. The 7B lead is approx. 3.6 mm and Staedtler state the pencils are made in Germany. For sharpening they name a 511 001 tub or a 510 25 double-hole model; for erasing, a 526 50 Mars plastic or a 5427 kneadable; and for blending, a 5426 stump.
Look through sketch pencils, artist pencils, erasers and Staedtler graphite pencils.
