The B Grade For Everyday Drawing And Writing
Staedtler Mars Lumograph 100-B is a box of 12 pencils one step softer than HB, giving a darker, smoother line that still keeps a decent point.
B is a dependable all-round grade. It handles quick sketches, line drawings with a little tone, comic and storyboard roughs, and handwriting that should read clearly without bearing down. Many people keep one in a pencil case alongside an HB.
Staedtler fit the B with an approximately 2.0 mm lead, as they do for 2B and all harder degrees. As Staedtler describe it, the graphite is finely graded, smooth in its tonal shifts, with a slight metallic gleam and good strength against breakage.
According to Staedtler the pencils are made in Germany. Their suggested companions are the 511 001 tub sharpener, the 510 10 metal sharpener and the Mars plastic 526 50 eraser.
