Bring Subtle, Luminous Colour to Every Artwork
The Derwent Academy Watercolour Pencil in Smalt Blue gives artists full control over colour, blending the precision of a pencil with the fluid beauty of watercolour in a single tool.
Watercolour pencils are ideal when you want expressive, painterly results without sacrificing the accuracy of hand-drawn linework. The Smalt Blue shade - a rich, muted mid-blue - suits landscapes, botanical illustration, and detailed studio work alike. The water-soluble 3.5mm strip is soft and smooth, making it easy to lay down rich pigment that activates beautifully with a wet brush. The hexagonal cedar wood barrel gives a secure, comfortable grip for detailed control.
Use these pencils dry for fine drawing and layering, or wet for flowing washes of colour. Unlike permanent ink-based pencils, watercolour is re-wettable once dry, so you can rework passages and blend until the result is exactly right. The high pigment load delivers strong colour purity and reliable lightfastness.
Supplied in a box of 6, this set suits artists who want a consistent supply of a favourite working colour. Derwent Academy watercolour pencils are compatible with other water-soluble media, making them a practical choice for mixed-media projects in studio, classroom, or home settings.
