Seed refers to the small gold kraft pocket format rather than to any contents. Cumberland lists this code as self seal, so the flap closes under finger pressure and no moistener, sponge or water bottle is needed anywhere near the run.

That matters where envelopes are filled by hand at a counter or in a payroll run and speed per envelope is the whole cost. At 145 x 90mm the P7 is the largest of the four seed sizes, so it takes folded notes, coins, keys and small components without forcing them. It carries no window and no secretive lining, so it is not the envelope for anything that must not be read from the outside.

The box of 500 is a single selling unit.
