Compass 7217001 is the large black umbrella in the Compass range, with a 135 cm canopy that Weatherdon say has room for two people, supplied as a pack of 24 for hotel concierge desks, valet stands and office lobbies.
A press of the button opens it automatically, which matters when a guest is standing in a doorway with bags in one hand. Weatherdon build the ribs and shaft from fibreglass and list windproof features, and the canopy is black polyester. The rib tips are rounded, a sensible detail on an umbrella that will be carried through crowded footpaths.
Closed, it measures 98.5 cm long and weighs 787 g, with a straight rubber handle and a 1.4 cm shaft. That is noticeably longer and heavier than the Compass standard umbrella, so it suits doorman and car park escorts more than guests carrying it all day.
A pack of 24 lets a venue keep stock at the door, in the car park and at the front desk at the same time.
